On Monday, February 2, 2026, The Centre Francophone du Grand Toronto (CFGT) announced the expansion of its primary care clinic, made possible through an investment from the Government of Ontario.
This initiative will enable approximately 2,300 patients to be attached to interdisciplinary primary care teams by the summer of 2026. The official announcement took place this morning at 555 Richmond Street West in Toronto, in the presence of health system partners, provincial dignitaries, and community representatives.
This investment supports CFGT’s primary care services expansion plan, carried out in partnership with Mid-West Toronto Ontario Health Team (MW OHT), North York Toronto Health Partners Ontario Health Team (NYTHP OHT), Women’s College Hospital, and Flemingdon Health Centre.
The initiative aims to improve access to publicly funded, coordinated, and culturally responsive primary care, particularly for francophone communities and underserved populations.
The announcement aligns with the province’s broader strategy to establish more than 300 new primary care teams across Ontario, connecting two million additional people to publicly funded primary care by 2029.
In June last year, the province announced a $235 million investment, funding more than 130 new and expanded primary care teams.
During the event, the Honourable Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Ontario’s Minister of Long-Term Care and MPP for Mississauga Centre, spoke on behalf of the Government of Ontario to highlight the importance of this investment and its impact on access to primary health care.
From our OHT, Penny Marrett, Chair of NYTHP OHT's Stewardship Council and Executive Director of Addiction Services Central Ontario and Jen Quinlan, CEO of Flemingdon Health Centre, spoke about the partnership with Centre Francophone and how it will help increase access to primary care in our communities.
In North York, the expansion applies to the Fairview Mall clinic site and will help improve continuity of care, prevention efforts, and the integration of health, mental health, and child development services.
